Marblesheen Pool Painting & Resurfacing

Stained, rough or tired marblesheen can be brought back to a smooth, brilliant finish with our specialist 3-coat epoxy system — a fraction of the cost of re-marblesheening, and swim-ready again in days.

Is It Time?

Six signs your marblesheen pool needs repainting.

Marblesheen typically lasts ten to twenty years before the surface breaks down. If your pool shows any of the signs below, a specialist repaint now costs far less than a full replaster later.

  • Faded, washed-out patches

Sunlight and chemicals slowly bleach the marblesheen pigment, leaving the shallow end and steps streaky and lifeless while the deep end still holds colour.

  • Stubborn black spot algae

Black spot roots itself into the pores of worn marblesheen and survives chlorine and pressure washing. Once it is in the surface, painting over a properly prepped shell is the lasting fix.

  • Rough, abrasive texture

Marblesheen that has gone coarse and grainy underfoot is past its service life. The exposed aggregate traps dirt and makes the walls impossible to keep clean.

  • Cracks and hollow spots

Hairline cracks, drumming hollows and lifting patches appear as the original marblesheen ages. These are repaired and stabilised before any coating goes on.

  • Staining that never lifts

Copper and calcium stains that survive acid washing have penetrated the plaster itself. A fresh coating system seals the stained surface under a clean, uniform finish.

  • Patchy old repairs

Previous plaster patches show as mismatched bands of colour and texture. Painting unifies the whole shell into one consistent finish, patches and all.

How It Works

The marblesheen painting process, step by step.

A typical marblesheen repaint takes five to ten working days from drain to handover, weather permitting. Every stage is carried out by our own licensed team — no subcontractors.

Fully qualified — Cert 3 in Painting & Decorating, Licence 349389C. Every finish is backed by a 5 year warranty.

  1. Free inspection & assessment

We inspect the shell, check for hollow spots and cracks, and test how the old surface will accept a coating. You receive a fixed-price quote with the exact scope — no surprises once we start.

  2. Drain & surface preparation

The pool is drained and the marblesheen is water-blasted and sanded to remove every trace of algae, staining and loose material. Cracks are routed out and repaired, hollow spots are stabilised, and the shell is acid-washed and fully dried.

  3. The 3-coat epoxy system

A deep-penetrating primer bonds to the prepared marblesheen, followed by two full epoxy topcoats applied evenly across floors, walls and steps. Each coat cures fully before the next goes on.

  4. Cure, refill & handover

The coating completes its final cure, the pool is refilled and restarted, and we walk you through the finish. Your written warranty is handed over on the day, along with simple care guidance for the first few weeks.

Paint, Don't Replaster

Why painting beats re-marblesheening.

  • A fraction of re-marblesheening

Replastering a pool means chipping out the old marblesheen and starting from bare concrete — often three to four times the cost of a specialist repaint, with far more disruption.

  • Days, not weeks

A repaint has most pools refilled and swim-ready within a fortnight. There is no demolition phase, no jackhammers and no truckloads of rubble through your backyard.

  • 5 year warranty

The coating is covered by a written 5 year warranty against peeling, blistering and delamination — your assurance that the preparation was done properly.

  • A clean, uniform finish

Stains, black spot, old patches and fading all disappear under one continuous coating system. The result is a smooth, bright surface that is genuinely easy to maintain.

Questions

Marblesheen painting FAQs.

  • Yes — provided the shell is sound. We prepare the surface thoroughly, repairing cracks and hollow spots first, so the coating bonds to a stable base. If an inspection shows the marblesheen is failing structurally, we will tell you honestly before any work starts.
