Fibreglass Resurfacing

Fibreglass pool resurfacing that makes an old shell look brand new.

Faded gel coat, osmosis blisters, hairline cracks — we strip the shell back, repair the damage at its source and refinish it in a tough, glossy 3-coat system. A fraction of the cost of replacement, completed in days not months.

Is It Time?

Six signs your fibreglass pool needs resurfacing.

Fibreglass shells are tough, but the gel coat that protects them has a service life. If your pool shows any of the signs below, resurfacing now prevents far bigger repairs later.

  • Faded, chalky gel coat

The surface has lost its gloss and looks white and powdery when you rub it. This is UV wear — the shell is past cleaning and needs refinishing.

  • Osmosis blisters

Small raised blisters on the shell, often weeping a sticky fluid when burst. Left untreated, osmosis spreads under the gel coat and undermines the laminate.

  • Crazing and hairline cracks

A spiderweb of fine cracks across the floor or steps. Usually flex or age related — they trap dirt, discolour and eventually open up.

  • Rough, uncomfortable texture

The finish has gone coarse and abrasive underfoot, or previous patch repairs have hardened into visible lumps and mismatched patches.

  • Staining that never lifts

Grey, brown or green marks that survive every acid wash and chlorine treatment. Persistent staining means the surface layer itself has broken down.

  • Old repairs failing

Earlier DIY or builder patch-ups are peeling, discolouring or leaking around the edges. A full resurface bonds the whole shell into one uniform finish.

How It Works

The resurfacing process, step by step.

A typical residential fibreglass resurface takes five to ten working days from drain to handover, weather permitting. Every stage below is carried out by our own licensed team — no subcontractors.

Fully qualified — Cert 3 in Painting & Decorating, Licence 349389C. Every finish is backed by a 5 year warranty.

  1. Free inspection & assessment

We drain nothing and promise nothing until we have seen the shell. Your pool is inspected, blisters and cracks are mapped, and you receive a fixed-price quote with the exact scope of work.

  2. Drain & shell preparation

The pool is drained and the entire shell is washed, degreased and sanded back to sound material. Every osmosis blister is opened, ground out and filled with fresh resin; cracks are routed and repaired, not skimmed over.

  3. The 3-coat system

A high-adhesion primer bonds to the prepared shell, followed by two full epoxy topcoats. Each coat is applied evenly across floors, walls and steps, and cured under controlled conditions before the next goes on.

  4. Cure, refill & handover

The new surface is allowed its full cure time, then the pool is refilled. We walk you through the finish, hand over the warranty in writing and run through simple care for the first few weeks of swimming.

Resurface, Don't Replace

Why resurfacing beats a new pool.

  • A fraction of replacement cost

Ripping out and replacing a fibreglass shell can cost three to four times more than resurfacing it. You keep the sound shell and replace only the finish.

  • Days, not months

A full replacement shuts your backyard down for months. Our resurfacing process has most pools swim-ready again within a fortnight.

  • 5 year warranty

The new surface is covered by a written 5 year warranty against blistering, peeling and delamination — your assurance that the prep was done properly.

  • A like-new finish

Uniform colour, real gloss and a smooth surface underfoot. Old patches, crazing and fading disappear under one continuous coating system.
